It's Sunday and it's another HOT day here in SoCal. So far we have gotten up to 103 degrees.
Just got a call from my best friend Karren. Her husband Wally will be going in for prostate surgery soon. He found out about 2 months ago that he has prostate cancer and they had to wait for his heart doctor to OK the surgery. Had to make sure that it would not put too much stress on his heart. Years ago he took Phen Fin to lose weight and it caused a leak in his heart valve. He almost died back then. Recently, he had gastric by-pass surgery to get rid of all the weight he was carrying and it was very successful. His heart doctor said that if he was able to survive the by-pass surgery, he should have no problem with the prostate surgery.
Karren and Wally live in a fifth-wheel and travel around the US. They will be heading up to Eureka, CA for a three-month stay to get out of this summer heat after Wally has his surgery. If we can work it out, Ben and I might go up and stay with them for a few days. We'll have to wait and see.
I hope your friends hubby does well with the surgery, and you get to go up for a visit. Give you a break from the heat. It is supposed to cool down here to the 50's tonight. It is thundering and raining right now, but it had already cooled down quite a bit before it started. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, because it will be steaming hot here before long. Take care, Sheila
ReplyDeletePraying everything works out for your friends. It's rainy & cool here....61 degrees.
ReplyDeleteRather than surgery, I would like to strongly recommend Karen and Wally look into proton therapy. Loma Linda would be close to an ideal location, though certainly not the only one. Go to www.protonbob.com.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I am a GMCer as opposed to fifth wheeler, though they may have made the correct choice for someone who is not into classics and/or automotive tinkering; and, I am finishing up proton therapy treatment at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville Fl..
Jesse,
ReplyDeleteMy friend Wally is going to Loma Linda for his treatment, so maybe that is what he is doing. I don't know.
