I was watching a Los Angeles Dodgers special today on our local cable channel "Time Warner 101". They were showing some old opening days and different celebs throwing out the first ball.
Frankie Avalon is a big Dodger fan and is always at the games. He was there to throw out the first ball and he was talking to the different players and to Tommy Lasorda.
What was really sad was that he was "trying" to explain to the young pitcher, just who he "was". NOT who he is, but who he "WAS".
Instead of asking the young man if he'd ever seen "Beach Blanket Bingo", or asking him if he'd ever heard a song calle "Venus", he asked the "boy" if he'd ever seen the movie "Grease". The young man replied that he had heard of it but had never seen it.
Needless to say, the young pitcher still has no idea who Frankie Avalon is.
Now that's sad.
That is sad, especially that Frankie thought he had to explain himself as who he 'was'. Sad, what the kids of today have missed out on.
ReplyDeleteFrankie is Still looking 'hot'.

Ah----i remember him, and he's even more handsome now than he was years ago....
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Kay.
Hugs,

Good morning Kay. I never was a Frankie Avalon fan but when I was a kid we all knew who he was. On the other hand, today I can't name very many of the current heart throb, singers loved by the younger generation:)
ReplyDeleteWent back and looked at your bird post. The first bird is a house sparrow the second I can't id, probably native to your area and not found in mine. The seed on the ground will be picked up by some other birds. A lot of birds are ground feeders and won't use a hanging feeder.
Hope you are having a great day!
