Got up at 6 am because I had to get ready to drive Jean down to the Kaiser in the San Fernando Valley. The traffic was horrific! We got there about 10 minutes after she was supposed to check in. She was in with the doctor for over an hour because they were doing a biopsy on a mole that had changed. After her appointment, we headed over to the mall in Santa Clarita to visit the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall. We were surprised to see that the first military people killed there were killed in 1955. I guess that was back when the USA was “policing” the area. After we viewed the wall, we then went into the mall to Red Robin and had lunch. Then we drove up to PetSmart because I wanted to get some fragrance spray for Hiker. She squats so low when she pees that she “sits” in the puddle and it gets on the back of her legs and then when it dries, she smells like pee. Since you are not supposed to bathe dogs too much because it dries out their skin, I thought maybe the fragrance spray might help. While at PetSmart, I bought her a little squeaky pumpkin for Halloween. I was telling the cashier that Hiker would be mad if she knew I was at PetSmart without her because she loves to beg for the cookies they have behind the counter. The cashier told me she'd put a couple of the cookies in my bag to take home to Hiker. I let Hiker stick her head in the bag and find the cookies. There had been a large praying mantis on my patio for a little over a week. I think Hiker killed it. I found it dead on the ground and it looked a little chewed up. I told her that she was going to be in trouble because it is illegal to kill praying mantises LOL. Actually that old belief is a myth that has been floating around since the 1950s. Got up to around 75° here today and the wind was blowing pretty hard.
That traveling wall is thought provoking, for sure. Glad Hiker got the cookies.
