Heartburn

Well I learned something today that I never knew.
I've started eating pistachios to try to help lower my cholesterol. I usually eat peanuts or almonds. Anyway, I read online that pistachios were known to lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol.
After eating a handfull of them each day for the past 4 or 5 days, I started noticing that I have severe heartburn. Had trouble sleeping last night from it.
I checkws the Internet and found that because of the fats in pistachios (which are GOOD fats), they can cause heartburn to people who suffer from acid reflux. I was diagnosed with acid reflux decease about 25 years ago, although, I have not had a bout with it for about 20 years.
I have been miserable today.

  1. Thanks Kay, for the heads-up on the pistachios...maybe that's what got me. I have not had reflux either for quite some time and started eating pistachios for the same reason you did. What a bummer. Thanks to prilosec each day, it doesn't get me., but when it does, Mercy Me. Ain't this agin' a bitch sometimes.
Bless Your Heart....have a good night.

  2. Wow Kay--that explains my major heartburn this morning. I haven't had heartburn in years and woke up with it this morn after eating a lot of pistachios 1 hr before bedtime. Thanks for your input!
