I Think It's Spring Already

Slept in a little this morning. I am still not used to the change to Daylight Saving Time. Had breakfast then went out and did my grocery shopping. Either I bought more stuff this time or the price of groceries is going up because I paid about $20 more than I normally do. I did buy a few things I normally don't buy. Was a really beautiful day here in SoCal. Hiker and I went out for a nice afternoon walk. I'm doing pretty good with getting back to my walking but when Summer gets here, I'm going to have to force myself to get up early and walk in the morning when it is cool. If I wait until afternoon, it will be too hot to walk. Tomorrow, I'm picking Jean up in the morning and we are heading over to Sit'n'Sleep so I can maybe buy a new mattress and box springs. As I mentioned before, the Cal King bed had just gotten too much for me to make alone and it has gotten more difficult to find sheets for it at a reasonable price. A lot of stores sell King size sheets but not Cal King. Jean told me that she doesn't have a box spring, that she just has a really thick (tall) mattress. I thought you always had to have a box spring under the mattress. If I do buy a new mattress, we will then drive down to the San Fernando Valley so I can buy some queen size sheets and pillows for the new bed. I'll have to buy either queen or standard size pillows because I now have king size pillows, which I could use, but when you buy queen sheets, you get either queen or standard size pillows.

  1. I think groceries are indeed going up in price, Kay. I've noticed it myself. I don't remember the exact items now, that really caught my attention, but I remember being shocked at the price difference at the time.

One thing I can name tho is meat. We ran out of the freezer beef that we had, from a local quarter-steer purchase last year, and I vividly remember going to buy a nice beef roast one day. I could hardly believe the price per lb. that was listed on it. We used to have beef roast quite a bit but not anymore!!

We just had our driveway plowed. The mail lady wouldn't even stop because of getting stuck in our cul-de-sac!! Spring is a week away but it's sure not looking the part in northern Indiana!! I noticed on your Weather Window app on your blog that it's 75 degrees right now, where you live. Sheesh.... mine says 32. No fair!! *haha*

    1. What happened to the postal service motto about "neither rain, wind, sleet or snow...etc."?

    2. I think that phrase must be "old-fashioned" like just about everything else, Kay. :( If the weather, road, and mailbox conditions aren't absolutely *perfect*, our mail carrier refuses to stop. She's a real pistol, let me tell ya. I wish she'd retire but I'm afraid she's got a few years left before that. I don't know of anyone in our subdivision who HASN'T reported her to the head of our post office. When new people move into the neighborhood, she's the first person that is brought up in conversation: "What's UP with the mail lady? We got a nasty note from her in our mailbox today!!". Yep, that's her!!

  2. We don't have boxsprings either. We have a waterbed platform we use, instead under our mattress.

  3. I am looking forward to spring weather and more walking too. Some of the new mattresses are so thick if you use a boxspring the bed is really high getting on and off.. I wish I had a platform bed which would take just the mattress. Have a happy day!
